1. What motivated you to attend a tech bootcamp in Fullerton?

+
+I decided to attend a tech bootcamp in Fullerton for several reasons. My job at the time was becoming stagnant and the career opportunities in my field were limited. I knew that having more skills in web development would help me branch out into new industries and open up many more opportunities. Additionally, I had always been interested in coding and creating websites, but I lacked formal training and guidance. Attending a bootcamp seemed like the perfect way to gain hands-on experience and learn from professionals in the industry.

2. How does one first hear about the bootcamp and what drew you to it?

There are a few ways someone might hear about a bootcamp, including:

1. Online ads and social media promotions: Many bootcamps use online marketing through platforms like Facebook, Google, or LinkedIn to reach potential students. If you’re active on social media or regularly browse the internet for coding resources or job opportunities, you may have seen ads for a bootcamp pop up.

2. Referrals from friends or colleagues: You may hear about a bootcamp from someone in your network who has personally attended one or knows someone who has. Personal recommendations can be powerful motivators to try something new.

3. Coding meetups and events: Bootcamps sometimes attend coding meetups and conferences to showcase their programs and connect with potential students. Attending these events can give you an opportunity to learn more about different bootcamps and possibly speak with alumni about their experiences.

4. Researching online: If you’re actively looking for coding education options, you may come across articles or blog posts that mention certain bootcamps or compare them with traditional degree programs.

As for what draws people to bootcamps specifically, there are several factors that may appeal to someone considering a career in tech:

– Strong emphasis on practical skills: Bootcamps are known for teaching practical skills that are immediately applicable in the job market. This is because they are often designed around industry needs and taught by professionals currently working in the field.
– Shorter time commitment: Traditional degree programs can take years to complete, whereas bootcamps typically last 3-6 months full-time or part-time over several months. The thought of being able to enter the workforce quickly after completing a program can be attractive.
– Hands-on learning approach: Many bootcamps offer hands-on learning opportunities through projects, hackathons, pair programming, and other interactive activities. For some people, this active learning style is more engaging and effective than sitting in lectures and taking exams.
– Affordable education: Bootcamp tuition costs are usually significantly lower than a traditional four-year degree. Some programs may also offer financing options or income-sharing agreements (ISAs) to help make the cost more manageable.
– Accessible to all backgrounds: Unlike traditional college degrees, many bootcamps do not require prior experience or specific educational background to enroll. This level of accessibility can be appealing for adults looking to switch careers or recent graduates who are unable to find employment in their chosen field.

3. Can a program tell us about one’s experience during the bootcamp?

This would depend on the specific capabilities of the program and the data that it has access to. A program may be able to analyze and report on a participant’s attendance, engagement in activities and assignments, and overall progress throughout the bootcamp. However, it may not necessarily be able to capture or interpret a person’s individual experiences or thoughts during the program. This would likely require human input and interpretation.

4. Did you have any previous experience or knowledge in coding before attending the bootcamp?

I did not have any previous experience or knowledge in coding before attending the bootcamp.

5. Were there any challenges you faced during the bootcamp? How does one overcome them?

+I found Challenges like some times getting stuck, trying to figuer out why the code was not working. What helped me was going over the instructions and understanding what exactly is needed then taking step by step debugging. Also seeking assistance for our mentors (you guys were great). Lastly Google can be an added advantage.
